Reserving Assets with circuly

Reserving an asset means that a serial number is reserved for an order and assigned to it as soon as a subscription is created for the order. Given below are a few reasons why you should reserve serial number:

• Inventory Management: By reserving a serial number, you can ensure that the specific product or item required for the order is set aside and not accidentally allocated to another order or customer. This helps maintain accurate inventory levels.

• Product Traceability: Assigning a unique serial number to each order allows for better product traceability and tracking. In case of any issues or recalls, it becomes easier to identify and locate the specific products associated with that serial number.

• Warranty and Support: Reserved serial numbers can streamline warranty management and customer support processes. When a product with a reserved serial number requires assistance, the support team can quickly identify the order details and provide relevant services.

Overall, reserving serial numbers for specific orders contributes to better organisation, enhanced customer service, and improved accuracy in the supply chain and product management processes.

How to reserve a serial number with circuly 

‍

Navigate to Settings > Checkout > END CHECKOUT > Reserve serial number. 

‍

Enabling the switch for this setting allows the circuly system to reserve a serial number automatically from the Asset List against each item of an order. As a result a circuly user does not need to assign a serial number when creating a subscription. 

‍

Asset status reserve means that the asset has already been assigned to an order item and when the order item is converted into a subscription, the asset status will change from reserved to rented out.

As you can see in the image below, when creating a subscription, the serial number is already assigned to the subscription.

Adding assets to circuly

To add assets to circuly, you need to important them in the correct format. 

‍

• Download this template and fill it with your assets. 

• Make sure to set the status to “in stock”. The reservation of serial numbers is based on the “in stock” status.
  
  
• Navigate to the Asset tab in the circuly operations backend and click on the CSV icon to upload your file.
